On 26th September 2024, Jakub M0KUK led a coding workshop for the club. This year, in keeping with the club’s theme of The Year of CW, the aim of the workshop was to develop a Morse code-related project.
Club members brought along their laptop computers and Arduino-compatible development boards, and followed along as Jakub walked them through the creation of an Arduino-based Morse code learning game. Jakub also submitted this project to the RSGB’s Coding & Amateur Radio initiative as part of National Coding Week.
When participants had finished the workshop, their Arduino was sounding random Morse code letters, and the player interacted with the game through a terminal program by pressing keys on their computer’s keyboard corresponding to their guess as to the letter heard.
Feedback from club members who attended the workshop was very postive, and it was a fun evening for all involved. Hats off once again to Jakub for a successful coding workshop!
